Just returned from a whirlwind weekend in Hong Kong, perhaps one of the most intense 72 hours of my life. Leaving straight from the adidas street party, I arrived on Friday morning a little dazed and confused.
Unfortunately my camera charger exploded (literally), meaning that I was sans digital camera for most of the trip. Thankfully I brought along my revere33 stereo camera along with me, making it a rather challenging experience documenting the weekend.
First port of call: dinner at the China Club, which seemed like a bit of a throwback to pre-97 Hong Kong. Given the number of ex-pats there in dinner suits who stared at us like the plague I suppose they had a “No Chinamen” policy before the handover. Or perhaps they were just pissed we were all in complete violation of the restaurant’s dress code. Food was pretty average, service was pretty arse. Nice view though. And there’s a bathtub in the toilets. (?)
The HK entrepreneurial spirit is best seen in its taxis. If you see a taxi with more then six cellphones on its dash, you know the driver means business. Bonus points for dual bluetooth headsets too, one in each ear.
DJ Fran-key, who seemed to be the mascot for this trip. “Where’s Fran-key?”. Amazing DJ though. Great disco mash-up.
The main event - Undercover Parfum launch party, in Admiralty. Spectacular venue, I always thought Admiralty was only full of office buildings, banks, and gigantic soul-less shopping malls. By this stage my camera was completely battery-dead, and I figured there were enough people there with cameras so I brought my Revere33 along instead. Congratulations to the Silly Thing event team; 800+ in attendance. What a way to throw your first party in two years.

The next day, GIRA training time. Jonio, Yas, Tetsuya, and myself tackled a couple laps of Bowen Road just up from Central. Pretty damn tough run, I had to take a breather at about 8km or so. Tetsuya is like a robot - he ran with a backpack and a video camera, and still kept up. Thanks for the photo Wilson.

The evening, well, kind of ended up in a distant haze. You can see the tomfoolery on Jun’s blog. ps - I won!
Thank you TK for everything, and the amazing hospitality!
Until next time… the tank is back in the garage.
