All change at Dover Street Market again…
I understand musician’s need for ‘war paint’, but look at this picture of Karen O by Daniel Jackson (for New York Times T Magazine) ─ the stillness in her eyes is simply striking. I’ve been thinking about how our generation is to be rebellious (since it’s the source of cultural movement, be it flapper, dandy or punk). I think an antidote of the craziness (in every sense of the word, in the context of the modern world) might be it. This picture somehow hits a note in me.

Reading Andy Warhol makes one understands the state of things as they are now. A and his many Bs (that’s what they are called, collectively) are definitely not a love story, but interesting stories none-the-less. The more one reads about him, the more he appears to be the antidote of what (many thinks) he represents. A is surely not lovable, but then again, he didn’t ask for love. He knew better than that. ‘It’s great to buy friends. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a lot of money and attracting people with it. Look who you’re attracting: EVERYBODY!’ ‘So on the one hand I really believe in empty spaces, but on the other hand, because I’m still making some art, I’m still making junk for people to put in their spaces that I believe should be empty: i.e., I’m helping people waste their space.’
Incidently I visited the V&A where vintage Interview magazines are archived. Look at Wiona Ryder and Jodie Foster in their tender age…
